It has been four months since I arrived in Canada and it feels like home already. I thank God for cousins who do not just keep me young but for such great company.
Last night, we decided to push through with the Christmas dinner at La Bodega. I have always wanted to try the place out because it looks so chic from the outside. The place always reminds me of summer. That's for some unknown reason. Or maybe because when I arrived last summer, I just did not have the chance to check the place out.
I ordered their Spanish Paella ($15 + tax) and all my other cousins ordered Sirloin & Frites. The paella was good! It was comparable to my favourite Spanish restaurant in Manila, Tapella by Gaudi. It has everything that I want in a paella - mussels, chicken strips, prawns, and chorizo. With an appetite like mine, its good for one person but all worth it.
They had the friendliest and most tolerant staff too. We were such a rowdy crowd as we were dancing, laughing, and talking loudly at each other. The place was reserved for us with the condition that everyone's order reach $500.
I hit the jackpot that night with Emanuel who enjoyed the company of my cousins too.
I will definitely go back and try out the other dishes at La Bodega. I have reached that foodie maturity stage where I am in for quality than quantity.
