Cooking is not my thing at the moment. Not that I don't enjoy doing it but because I would prefer to do other things rather than cook. Plus with my recent diet, I don't feel obliged to cook because 2 out of 3 meals are done via my NutriBullet. How convenient, ey?
So when Joseph said that his roommate, Mithing, is cooking "escabeche" for supper. I immediately jumped out of the couch and got ready. I was so in for something beyond my scrambled eggs. Hahahahaha!
For a little bit of suspense, Joseph and I went to Cornwall Centre to buy some stuff for his Eurotrip this September. You can see that he likes preparing things ahead of time and he seems to get things in order. His living space translates to how he is. On the other hand, I did not find anything special that I wanted to buy at the mall. I thought I'd just get something in Vancouver when I go there the first week of August. But I still tried my luck on shopping that day and went to The Bay and then Marshalls but there was really nothing that I really really liked. So I kissed shopping goodbye that day.
Because Mithing requested for some bell peppers to add to her escabeche, Joe and I went to Save On Foods to get the much needed ingredient. I also took the time to get some pineapples and buy some chicken wings and a dessert for all of us.
When we got to Joe and Mithing's condo, I was famished. The smell of the escabeche was to-die-for. It brings back good memories because it reminded me of My Papa who cooks the best escabeche in the world. I was so surprised that Mithing also cooked some sautéed squash with small slices of pork. Which happened to be another of my favorites! Can I ever get any luckier to have friends who cook?
As soon as everything was set. We just dig in. But first - WEFIES! For some of you who do not know what wefies are. Urban Dictionary defines it as a selfie but with 2 or more people. Brilliant!
Eating time was the best part! My tummy was the happiest.
And the star from last night's supper was this Tuxedo Truffle Mousse cake from Save On Foods! It was so good I had to ditch my diet and just tell myself to "YOLO!"
What's your favourite cake? Have you tried the Tuxedo Truffle Mousse cake? What food brings you so much good memories? Let's have a chat and tell about it on the comments section below.

Saskatoon is a two-hour drive from Regina. Though very close from where I'm based and with more happenings as it is a bigger city than the latter, I've only been there once. What made it worst was I was only there for 3 hours. Sad, right? But it was because of a bad weather that we had to come back to Regina right away plus it was only for an official business.
To go to Saskatoon from Regina, I had to hitch a ride from a neighbour and colleague at work. It really pays to be nosy during lunch breaks at the Staff Lounge. Ate Vivian was chitchatting with a friend from work when I heard her that she'll be travelling to Saskatoon on Christmas day. So I grabbed the chance. I right away asked her if I can go with her. And thankfully, they had enough space to accommodate me because there was no bus going to Saskatoon on December 25. This time I'll have the weekend to explore Saskatoon with my friend Aumack, who's on vacation from the Philippines. I made a vlog to chronicle my Saskatoon adventure! Click the play button to watch the video. Hope you enjoyed the video. See yah soon in my future adventures! Lovelots,
We left for Washington, D.C. a little later in the afternoon because the soon-to-be-married lovebirds had some errands they had to accomplish in the morning. It was also the best time for me to enjoy some more time in bed. The past days have been very hectic and we were always in a hurry.
THE TRIP
It was a long drive from Toms River, NJ to Washington, DC. Probably took us 5 hours to reach the destination. Along the way, we had a number for stopovers for chips, coffee and the need to address the after effect of coffee - the washroom! Hahahahahaha!!! Getting out of the car after sitting for a long time is always a relief. The secret is to stretch and do more stretches whenever you get the chance. It also helped that we rode a Chevrolet Suburban. The long drive was a lot bearable because of its comfy seats.
