Travelling is one of the most amazing things that every person should do - it refreshes the mind and the soul. I love traveling but nights before the actual flight, always makes me anxious. I get all giddy, and then I seem to forget a lot of things. In the past, I have had bad experiences like not remembering boarding passes and essential identification cards to make that smooth trip to my destination. This trip was no different except that I tried to make sure that I learn from previous mistakes.
Today, I am traveling to Austin, Texas. Why Austin? First of all, I have a good friend who lives there who I've always wanted to visit. The second reason was The Dolls are having a little reunion for the Austin City Limits Music Festival 2017. The third reason is the fact that Austin is known for its excellent music, culinary prowess, and whip-smart locals who know how to have fun.
There are no direct flights from Regina, Saskatchewan to Austin, Texas, so I had two layovers. The first layover was Calgary International Airport, and the next one is Houston International Airport. It took me about 12 hours to get to Austin and spent most of the first day of my vacation on a plane. The best part of it was people watching and seeing everything from the top of the world. It just makes me feel like I am are soaring like a bird. In my case, I like to think that I am a pink flamingo flying high above the sky.
One music festival that Austin is known for is the Austin City Limits Music Festival. It has earned international acclaim
After twelve hours of travel, I was famished, and we decided to enjoy some chicken wings and waffle fries at Pluckers. If you live in Regina, Plucker's place is Austin's version of Broken Rack.
As soon as we finished eating, it was home time, and we capped the night with some catching up and a whole lot of good wine.

As a tireless talker and a hyperactive dancer , it is not very surprising how I ended up becoming an events host here in Regina. My first ever legit hosting gig was a "Singled Out"-inspired dating segment during a big celebration at the university. For my young readers, Singled Out was a dating game show on MTV in the 90's. I had to put my good-looking friends on the spot and made them look for love for the enjoyment of a thousand giggly eyes. Until this very moment, I still don't know how I was able to convince them to come on stage and be a part of it. When you're in college, you do things because you want to give it a shot or either there is a group of people pushing you to do things aka peer-pressure! When I had that hosting gig, I did not gyrate to my heart's content. I was just making fun of myself and just kept blabbering on stage. I wish I showed them my killer moves then and what could have changed.
Fast forward to 2016 and I have gone all out on my craziness on stage. I feel that it is part of entertaining and I am actually happy to be able to do it. The stage makes me feel alive and you guys know that I always go to where I feel most alive.
Most recently, I hosted Ethel Booba's concert at the Orr Centre here in Regina. The show was aptly titled The Magic of Ethel Booba Canada Laftrip 2016.
