I think we are very lucky to live in the days of Google. When you want to know what other people think of a restaurant? You just Google it! But of course, nothing beats a recommendation from the locals.
So how we decided to dine at District Commons was because of its proximity to One Washington Circle Hotel, our place for the night. It also helped that the lady at the front desk and Yelp recommended the same restaurant.
From the outside, the place looked very stylish, elegant and expensive. The same feeling radiates through the interiors of the restaurant.
The menu speaks of classic American comfort food.
Because I did not feel like eating a lot for dinner, I ordered Shrimp and Grits (sautéed gulf shrimps, country ham, & holy trinity) priced at $19 USD.
Here's a closer look and better lighting! Hehe!
Kara and Anne played supermodels before their food was served.
Their recession-proof USDA Prime New York Strip Steak was a little too expensive at $43 USD but it was really good.
This Crispy Calamari was sooooo good! I forgot my name... Who am I again?
But this was the scene-stealer that night, The Kentucky Colonel (Hot Brown-Roasted Turkey, Smoked Bacon, Oven Cured Tomato, Mornay) for the low low price of $13 USD.
I honestly can't remember who ordered this soup! Which probably explains why I can't remember what soup this was but I remember so well how it tasted!!! And it tasted like magic!
Our happy faces will tell the story of how happy our tummies were that night!
That's Anne and Yanick! They're both from Belgium but are also in the US for Kara and Andrew's wedding.
And below is Kara and Andrew, the soon-to-be-married couple!
Techya and Andot are from Davao City & they're famous for their Instagram hashtag #techdot !
And this is Ian and VitoriVita. Ian is the younger brother of Andrew. And he's not my date. Its all platonic. OK?
We had a couple of beers for some unknown reason. Until this very day, I don't know the reason behind drinking beer after eating a big dinner.
People started to come in as soon as we started eating. I've always had that feeling. When I dine at a restaurant, its always packed with customers the moment I leave. I guess I am a lucky charm to restaurants!
Now, let's bring out our score cards and rate this place according to - taste, plating, interior design, service and if the price is right.
The VitoriVita Standard are as follows!
5 - Excellent
4 - Very good
3 - Good
2 - Needs Improvement / Do Something About It
1 - You need to reconsider if you're in the right business!
0 - You're in deep shhhhhh! So I will just SHHHHH!
Taste: 4 / 5 | Plating: 4 / 5 | Interior Design: 4 / 5 | Service: 4 / 5 | Price: 4 / 5
